Extreme sports filming is all about capturing fast moving unpredictable subjects.
At Flashworks Media, extreme sports filming is where it all began for us, filming snowboarding in the harsh mountains. Therefore, it’s safe to say it’s in our blood.
Extreme sports filming is one of our favourite areas of work, due to the exciting and unpredictable nature. We covered both the 2014 & 2015 GODZone adventure races, hence producing daily updates as well as supplying footage to TV1 and TV3. In 2016 we shot the Documentary Racing GODZone. On snow, in the mountains or wherever the action may take us!
Nothing is more extreme than The GODZone Adventure Race!
With 500+ kms of non stop racing through some of New Zealand’s most rugged landscapes, over 7 days, there was no shortage of extreme action. Check out the teaser for the Racing GODZone documentary…

Cardrona is one of Wanaka/Queenstown’s biggest attractions and makes for a beautiful place for extreme sports filming.
Here is a video we produced for the Junior National Ski and Snowboard Championships…
Cardrona offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter and downhill mountain biking in the summer! Again the wide vistas called for aerial video, but the textures and real grit of the mountain biking needed to be conveyed also. Mixing stunning aerial shots with on the ground filming of extreme sports means we can create a visually rich and engaging video content. Check out the videos below.
Cardrona’s Ski and snowboard facilities are world class and make for a perfect place for extreme sports filming. Many international competitions are held here including the Burton High Fives, NZ Freeski and Snowboard Junior Nationals.
Flashworks Media produced a webisodic video series called “Stagging Around” filmed exclusively at Cardrona. We worked closely with the marketing department to film and edit a series that was fun, cheeky and a took a real look into a snowboarders season, while maintaining public decency and keeping it PG. Hamish “Buckwilde” Bilzie Martin was the host and guide. He has been riding in Wanaka for many years and is sponsored by Signal Snowboards, Spy, Rad gloves, Capitahl.
The counterpart to Cardrona is Treble Cone (TC). Hailed as the best freeride area in New Zealand by many, this mountain offers massive vertical and dead tried legs at the end of the day. We have been filming at TC for many years. Producing weekly updates on snow conditions, covering live events and creating athlete profiles.
